Hello Everyone,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Praise God I started first day of the year on a plane heading back to Kenya and East Africa for the year. I am looking forward to seeing what God will do over these next twelve months and beyond.

During my stay at home I received love and hugs from family and friends. I attended mission conferences, speaking events, and meetings with our Feb mission team. I was able to celebrate a great Christmas holiday, filled my spiritual and emotional tanks and eat my favorite foods. The first weeks I was a home there was a song that said "fill me up Lord and use me again." That is my prayer. I know that my time at home was a filling station moment. Please keep me in prayer about staying spiritual and emotional charged.

Well, I arrived in Nairobi on the 3rd. This is a very different environment then last year's riots that were going on during my arrival. The country is still struggling with unfinished business from last year's riots and political corruption that is breaking the hearts of the people. Pray for the leaders (church, political, educational and family) of Kenya. Courageous leaders are needed who will stand up and help all the people of Kenya (before and instead of themselves).

I am spending the first few weeks reconnecting with the leaders from the Bali Global Summit. This is my main focus during the next twelve months. It is exciting to hear about their continued excitement from their experience in Bali. Meeting leaders from around the world has inspired and challenged them to seek God for more of His plans to the reach the world through the Church. Pray for Peter Z, Wachira, Yetem, Demisssie, Alemayehu, Reginah, Peter N, Njihia, Ahmed, Esther and Machira. That God will use them to mobilize their networks of churches and leaders for global mission. Ask God to increase their influence and impact on this continent.

Twelve for Twelve:
Over these next twelve months I am praying to invest in the lives of twelve leaders. The Bali team is the anchor group, but there are East African women that God is raising up to be the next generation of mission leaders. I am praying to connect with, learn from and encourage other women to live out God's global mission. Pray that God will connect me with 2-3 up and coming female missionaries during this year.

Added Blessings:
While I was home I prayed that I would meet more single female missionaries serving in East Africa. Well, God has answered that prayer. During a Philly mission conference I met Deborah who will be serving in Nairobi this coming year, Pray for her as she raises her support and move to Kenya. Janice from Florida has been a good friend during the last year here. Janice has family in Chicago so we were able to hang out in Chicago and eat GREAT pizza. I do miss pizza, real Chicago pizza. Pray for Janice as she works with her church in returning to Kenya by the end of the month.
Another gift of fellowship is Dorris. I have known Dorris for several years and we have done ministry trips before. Dorris received her doctorate degree this past year and she too moved to Kenya for twelve months. We arrived on the same day and will spend our first weeks establishing her home (I am claiming a room), adjusting to the heat and getting some sleep. I am thrilled to be hanging out with her at the start of this trip. Pray for Dorris as she adjust to Kenya and began teaching at the PACE Bible school. I am looking forward to spending some ministry time in Uganda with Dr. Linda. She is a trauma counselor and pastor. I will be joining her for three months this summer, learning from her about MANI, a mission network where she has a leadership role. They are also helping the African church to be more engaged with global mission. Pray for Dr. Linda and Paula as they prepare a Ugandan team for a ministry trip to the states. In July, she will return to Uganda to conduct trauma counseling to women in Northern Uganda. I am praying to join her on the mission.

2009 1st Team:
After their Dec. 2006 trip to Kenya, the Mohr family came home and shared what God had exposed them to in Kenya with many of their friends. This coming Feb. 2009 the Mohr's has gathered a team of 17 to come and bless Kenya. I will be helping to lead this group. This is a huge undertaking, they are meeting together, packing luggage, preparing their stories, raising funds and learning about the Kenyan ministries that they will be serving and learning from. Pray for our group that God will open our hearts to His work around the world, teamwork, health, lodging and transportation issues. I am finalizing the last details of our ministry plan. This will be the largest single group I have led so far.

I am very grateful for each of you as you pray for me and those I minister with here in East Africa. I cannot say thank you enough for your prayers and financial support in doing this branch of Christ's work. I am praying that the spirit of fear will not overwhelm the children of God. I pray that you will walk in fullness of what God has called you to do. Remember Gideon, a man God saw greatest in when he was hiding in a pit- scared. God saw in him more than what he saw in himself. He believed God enough to walk in obedience without confidence. Confidence came as he obeyed God. God is still looking for a few Gideon who will trust him against the odds. God is working through HIS CHURCH. Stand strong there are nations (people groups) that still need to hear about our Savior. Blessings to all my fellow Gideon’s, thanks for standing with me.
