I know I am delayed in sending out a note to everyone. It has been a crazy time and moments of rest have been few. So here is a review of the past few months and weeks.

August Willow Chicago

Praise God for the Willow Chicago and Christ Covenant Church team that came to serve at the Eastleigh for one week. In the mornings we ministered to Muslims kids with Bible stories and character building subjects. There was drama, games, crafts, music and story time for 80 kids each day. It was a new experience for both groups to interact with Muslims and have fun sharing God’s love and His word with these kids.

It was a great experience even eating a whole fish (most had the head removed) with ugali and greens. This is an official Kenyan meal with the whole team. This was a great team of Kenyans, American, Ugandan and Congolese members. It was wonderful to see the body of Christ serving together and reaching out to Muslim kids and adults. Even today I see some of the kids from that week and get hugs from them.

In the afternoons it was adult time with the English as a Second language class. These are the students that I serve with weekly. They were so excited and had prepared a drama and word games to interact with the Chicago/Kenya team. For both groups it was a new adventure and was a great success. The students are asking when the team will return next year. On the side, Rick was able to join the basketball games with young Somalia men. He had a chance to do some coaching and even connecting in some interesting conversations about his perspective of the Muslim faith. Pray for these students for many it was their first time interacting with a Christian group and for our group with Muslims.

  Sept 2011

Just full of school, classes and confusion. It was a tough month and I finished it exhausted. I great highlight was a visit from David Radcliff from Australia. He was here with a group from his church visiting ministries that they partner with and I had a chance to visit with them. It was a great time of fellowship and encouragement.

I began to volunteer with my church as a school chaplain for two local schools. We have a Bible class for one hour weekly. It is so early in the morning but it is fun. Our subject was MIRACLES. It was a miracle that I got up at 6:30am to do it twice a week.

Praise God my 2 year student visa was approved. Now just waiting for the stamped certificate to go into my passport and it will be final. Thanks for your prayers.

Oct 2011

Wow the last months of the year has come so quickly. I was so blessed with a visit from Deb and Bob Ruzga. They are also with Inspire 180 and we visited Pastor Regina and Pastor Timothy’s schools. Visiting with the sponsored kids and seeing the new building. We encouraged each of the kids to write letters to tell their stories to others. We are looking for pen pals who would like to write to these students and encourage them and be encouraged by them. There are about 160 kids at the school. Continue to pray for them. We also visited a training center for the high school graduates to continue their career training after school instead of going back to the streets. We are also praying to complete Pastor’s Timothy school with 150 desks, teaching material, doors and windows.

Nov 2011

Okay, I am doing a happy dance. The Willow Creek Association Global Leadership Summit came to Nairobi, Kenya Nov 4th and 5th. It was a wonderful blessing to my ministry friends and me.

Thank you Inspire 180, Willow Creek Chicago, JL Ministries and Dorris for helping 54 leaders attend the conference. There were about 2000 leaders in attendance. The best part BILL HYBELS LIVE!!!!! I was so thrilled to also see Doug and Gary from Willow Creek. I volunteered for the whole thing but thanks Doug for the DVD set. Now back to class. This will be my last class of the year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Next week, we will get together here in Kenya and celebrate all of God’s blessings. I am very grateful and overwhelmed knowing that so many of you are praying for me and supporting me in ministry. Thanks Luke, Lydia and Noel for being my youngest supporters to those who have walked with me these many years of ministry. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I could not be here without you. I will start claiming number 48!!! I have already had a birthday party with friends here in Nairobi. Now to reflect on the place God has me and to discern where He will take me the rest of my life.

I am doing a Bible study of Esther by Beth Moore. Here is the closing statement on one of the lessons. I know it may not hit you the same but this is a great statement for my life right now.

"Some of us with little previous battle experience have no idea why God is allowing us to go through such difficult times in a place we thought was His will. He's trying to make warriors out of us... Rise to the occasion! But we aren't meant to fight unseen forces alone. You and I have the God-given right to lock arms with our sisters and brothers in Christ and defend ourselves with the sword of the Spirit and the shield of faith. Here's the best part: When we do, we are guaranteed the victory... (If you fully obey God...the Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction and flee from you in seven. Duet 28: 1a, 7)

That is a sweet gift to me.

In ten days I am looking forward to a team from my home church. I AM SO EXCITED!!!

This is a picture with a new friend. Traci, from Chicago, came to Kenya with Mary Whelchel of Christian Working Woman and Moody Church. They did a great conference for women and I was able to enjoy their fellowship. Thanks Mary and Traci for blessing us.

Blessings and grace to you. Celebrate LIFE in Christ.

What keeps you up at night?

What keeps you up at night???

That was the question my pastor in Kenya asked in his sermon yesterday. He was talking about taking risk and getting out of the boat (our comfort zones).

Over the past several months I have been up at nights. Worried, praying, questioning and watching movies. These past few months has been an emotional and spiritual roller coaster ride. Each loop and flip different and more scarier than the last. Praise God only two things were life threatening and I survived. The other twist and turns are more challenging to my spiritual, personal and mental security. God is changing the game. He is requiring a bigger step of faith in my walk with Him and level of TRUST in Him. TRUST!!!! a scary word when you feel out on the limb of the unknown. I know others are facing major life crisis that would make my concerns small and unimportant, but they a huge for me. They have me shaking in my boots.

What's next, I have no idea. I just know that God is good, He can not lie and this too shall pass. Praying that I will remain faithful to what He has called me to and that I will continue to take steps of faith toward where He is calling me. Even if it keeps me up at night.

Still shaking in my boots, praying, worrying and watching movies. Anyone want to share their movies with me??? That night I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. WOW what a ride. That night I thought I accepted Christ too early because I didn't have a big sin that God could use for future ministry. Thank YOU JESUS for saving my soul. I didn't need a big sin, I needed the love and acceptance of a loving and gracious God. Thank you Lord for your grace and forgiveness. These pass 29 years have been quite an adventure. Full of ministry, struggles, growth, redefining myself in Christ and being shaped (and still is) to reflect His kingdom. I am VERY grateful for all of the people through the years who have mentored, corrected, rubbed me the wrong way, challenged, accepted and loved me all 47 years. Thank you for being a blessing to me. Today I celebrate. I would not live any other way. This is the great adventure. FULL ON FOR CHRIST for the next 29 years.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

New Year and New Ministry for Esther
I have joined

INSPIRE 180

518 S. I thank God that I am in a good place. Last year this time I had five desires and prayers before God. Praise God four of the five big prayers in my life have been answered positively, the fifth one is not answered yet :(. But I will keep it before Him.

#1
I get to volunteer with the WCA/GLS Kenya office. I love the WCA Leadership Summit. When I moved to Kenya I really missed volunteering at Willow Creek Association's conferences. I have only served two days but I am so blessed to do anything that helps the Kenyan leaders be encouraged, challenged and given new insight by God. Pray for Nov 4th and 5th.

#2
I wanted to go to school for my Master's. This time last year I didn't know where but had a strong desire to open another avenue for future ministry. I had learned I had a growing heart to reached the really unreached of the world for Christ. I started Nairobi International School of Theology this past Sept. I have only attended two classes but I am excited to be in a learning environment. I am getting a Masters in Organizational Leadership. I would like to work in a restricted area in an NGO. Pray that I am able to dedicate the time to do well. During these two years that God will show me where to invest the next half of my life.

#3
Minsitry outreach. I have been learning about the Islamic world. I wanted to be in an environment where I could interact with those who have not interacted with Christ followers. I am tutoring fully veiled women, young and older men in English at a local Community Center. I am meeting wonderful young people and will be helping with a teenage group on life skills. I am planning to use my NUrsing skills next year. Pray that I have opportunities to show others CHRIST the true Messiah and invite them to join His Kingdom.

#4
I have traveled around East Africa for the last two and half years. I have enjoyed it, but I REALLY missed having a church home. Most Sunday I was preaching-love that too. But had not found a church home for spiritual connection. PRAISE GOD!!! I have joined Nairobi Chapel. I am a part of the prayer ministry. Extra bonus I have a great apartment in the city.

Still praying for direction in choosing a ministry to work with and under while on the field. I am interviewing with a minsitry this Dec. PRAY FOR WISDOM!!!

Still praying for friendships here. I am having a small gathering at my home to build friendships with others here. PRAY for discernment. Most single women my age are missionaries, but also trying to find national friendships.

P.S. I am learning Swahili --Ninajifunza Swahili.
Yesu Kristo anapenda watu Wote-- Jesus Christ loves all people.

Have a good day and Live for Christ Jesus with your heart, BODY and soul.

Willow Creek Chicago/S. For three days we played games, taught the word of God, sang songs and danced around the camp. It started off crazy but calmed to an excellent time of ministry to the kids. We planned for 200 kids a day but the first day about 400 showed up. After working out the plan to include those who came we had a great time.

The team was from Christ Covenant Church in Nairobi, Happy Church and Youth Come together in Nyahururu and Willow Creek Chicago and South Barrington.

Thank You so much for your prayers. Jan Koebel is my new house mate. We stay in a townhouse in Kilimani area of Nairobi. It a great place. I will still consider Dorris my up-country house mate.

We hosted our first party for the 4th of July. We had a great time meeting each others friends and creating new friendships. We had 45 people enjoying our new space. No fireworks but great food and fellowship.

July is going by so fast. I am preparing for the Willow Team August 6-13th. We will be working with two Kenyan churches hosting a kids camp for 600 kids (200 each day for three days). Just pray now and stop after the 14th. I am serious, pray now non stop.

PLEASE PRAY for continued peace in this country. On August 4th is a vote for the draft of the constitution. Many are praying that it is defeated and rewritten. We are praying that everyone stays calm and challenge their leaders to think of the people and not themselves.

May God continue to enrich your spirit and overwhelm you with His love and grace. Here in Kenya and Ethiopia I have been very busy. I am continuing to study and learn more with LCA internship. I have been accepted at Nairobi International School of Theology for my Master's in Organizational Leadership. I will start later this fall. I have moved back to Nairobi and will attend Nairobi Chapel. I have enjoyed attending this church.

April

Praise God I started this season off with a lot of ministry activity. I am blessed to work with two groups in Nairobi with a heart to train churches and leaders in evangelism. Life Challenge Assistance (LCA) and Haradali Ministries (HM) have worked with me to equip the ministries in effective outreach.

HM trained a group of young adults for a ministry outreach in Mombasa. It was very exciting to see how their hearts were open to the information. After their trip they mentioned how the training help them to minister differently and effectively to Muslims. PRAISE GOD 22 people accepted Christ. Photos above. Thanks Zablon and Njeri for conducting the class. To God be the glory.

During this month I also helped plan and work at a Medical Mission Day for a group of widows in Machakos, Kenya. This group of ladies is served by a fellow missionary Janice Lewis. She is helping them to start a chicken farm and plant vegetables for income. These women rarely get service from a doctor or dentist. Dr Moses, Dr Ben (both Kenyan) and myself gave physical exams, HIV tests and dental care to 60 people. It was a full day.

Carla B came to Kenya during April and it was a great time to visit with her. Dorris and I hosted a Women tea at our home to get to know our neighbors. 12 women came and is was a great time of fellowship. Dorris and the group will start a Bible study in the coming months. Pray for these ladies to grow in God's Word.

Jared from LCA came to speak to a pastor's prayer fellowship. Pauline, Jacintha and Bernard from HM also conducted another Muslim Evangelism class and we visited a Mosque. It was a full month.

MAY

I had an opportunity to speak in Nakuru, Kenya for a mission Sunday with the African Inland Church.

Dorris celebrated her 60th birthday by climbing Mount Kenya.

God is opening more opportunities and my heart to work with children and women again.

Spoke to 60 pastors about Children Ministry and Muslim Evangelism training. That was quite exciting.

I have been working with Pastor Reginah's Gurec School for several years. This past month I planned a Staff Day for them. We met in a hotel had a great time learning about personalities, team building, and conflict resolution. Pastor Timothy also came and shared his story of helping children at risk in very poor areas. He calls himself and them walking miracles when Christ changes their future through ministry outreaches. It was a very encouraging time.

PACE Graduation

During the last week of May Dorris and I hosted friends from South Africa, Kenya and Canada. PACE Bible School PAST had its second graduation. I was fully involved and enjoyed seeing the families and students celebrating this event.

Well, on May 31st I moved back to Nairobi!!!! Praise God I will be able to attend a church that I really enjoy Nairobi Chapel and I am located near NIST the school I will be attending this fall. My new roommate is Jan Koebel who works for a Bible school in the Nairobi.

Okay so that's the summary of the past two months. Keep praying and thank you so much for your support and prayers. PSALM 20

Blessings Esther

God's Grace, Mercy and Love

Has it changed your life??? Has it given you hope for today, tomorrow and forever? There are so many people around the world, next door to you , in the church and those who will never go to church who need to know of God's grace, mercy and love. GO tell them.

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do His work and speak out for Him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference He made for you-from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. (I Peter 2:9-10 MSG)

This period of learning and readjusting to home in East Africa has been an emotional adventure. I think in the last six weeks I have experienced every emotions possible. I think I am starting to even out :). We received an email from another missionary who had to deal with 43 rats in his home since returning to the field. PRAISE the living GOD that is not my experience. So when things seem crazy I just say to myself "43." It kicks me in a spirit of praise very quickly.

May God show you His grace, mercy and love over your life and situations. If needed just say "43." Unless you have 44 :(). Thank you for your prayers to cover me in ministry.

Standing in our home next to our wall of faith. All the verses that encourage us on our journey.

Be Blessed

Greetings

I am here for another year of minsitry in East Africa. I am looking forward to seeing what God will do over these next twelve months and beyond.

During my stay at home I received love and hugs from family and friends. I attended mission conferences, speaking events, and meetings with our Feb mission team. I was able to celebrate a great Christmas holiday, filled my spiritual and emotional tanks and eat my favorite foods. The first weeks I was a home there was a song that said "fill me up Lord and use me again." That is my prayer. I know that my time at home was a filling station moment. Please keep me in prayer about staying spiritual and emotional charged.

Well, I arrived in Nairobi on the 3rd. This is a very different environment then last year's riots that were going on during my arrival. The country is still struggling with unfinished business from last year's riots and political corruption that is breaking the hearts of the people. Pray for the leaders (church, political, educational and family) of Kenya. Courageous leaders are needed who will stand up and help all the people of Kenya (before and instead of themselves).

I am spending the first few weeks reconnecting with the leaders from the Bali Global Summit. This is my main focus during the next twelve months. It is exciting to hear about their continued excitement from their experience in Bali. Meeting leaders from around the world has inspired and challenged them to seek God for more of His plans to the reach the world through the Church. Pray for Peter Z, Wachira, Yetem, Demisssie, Alemayehu, Reginah, Peter N, Njihia, Ahmed, Esther and Machira. That God will use them to mobilize their networks of churches and leaders for global mission. Ask God to increase their influence and impact on this continent.

Twelve for Twelve:
Over these next twelve months I am praying to invest in the lives of twelve leaders. The Bali team is the anchor group, but there are East African women that God is raising up to be the next generation of mission leaders. I am praying to connect with, learn from and encourage other women to live out God's global mission. Pray that God will connect me with 2-3 up and coming female missionaries during this year.

Added Blessings:
While I was home I prayed that I would meet more single female missionaries serving in East Africa. Well, God has answered that prayer. During a Philly mission conference I met Deborah who will be serving in Nairobi this coming year, Pray for her as she raises her support and move to Kenya. Janice from Florida has been a good friend during the last year here. Janice has family in Chicago so we were able to hang out in Chicago and eat GREAT pizza. I do miss pizza, real Chicago pizza. Pray for Janice as she works with her church in returning to Kenya by the end of the month.
Another gift of fellowship is Dorris. I have known Dorris for several years and we have done ministry trips before. Dorris received her doctorate degree this past year and she too moved to Kenya for twelve months. We arrived on the same day and will spend our first weeks establishing her home (I am claiming a room), adjusting to the heat and getting some sleep. I am thrilled to be hanging out with her at the start of this trip. Pray for Dorris as she adjust to Kenya and began teaching at the PACE Bible school. I am looking forward to spending some ministry time in Uganda with Dr. Linda. She is a trauma counselor and pastor. I will be joining her for three months this summer, learning from her about MANI, a mission network where she has a leadership role. They are also helping the African church to be more engaged with global mission. Pray for Dr. Linda and Paula as they prepare a Ugandan team for a ministry trip to the states. In July, she will return to Uganda to conduct trauma counseling to women in Northern Uganda. I am praying to join her on the mission.

2009 1st Team:
After their Dec. 2006 trip to Kenya, the Mohr family came home and shared what God had exposed them to in Kenya with many of their friends. This coming Feb. 2009 the Mohr's has gathered a team of 17 to come and bless Kenya. I will be helping to lead this group. This is a huge undertaking, they are meeting together, packing luggage, preparing their stories, raising funds and learning about the Kenyan ministries that they will be serving and learning from. Pray for our group that God will open our hearts to His work around the world, teamwork, health, lodging and transportation issues. I am finalizing the last details of our ministry plan. This will be the largest single group I have led so far.

I am very grateful for each of you as you pray for me and those I minister with here in East Africa. I cannot say thank you enough for your prayers and financial support in doing this branch of Christ's work. I am praying that the spirit of fear will not overwhelm the children of God. I pray that you will walk in fullness of what God has called you to do. Remember Gideon, a man God saw greatest in when he was hiding in a pit- scared. God saw in him more than what he saw in himself. He believed God enough to walk in obedience without confidence. Confidence came as he obeyed God. God is still looking for a few Gideon who will trust him against the odds. God is working through HIS CHURCH. Stand strong there are nations (people groups) that still need to hear about our Savior. Blessings to all my fellow Gideon’s, thanks for standing with me.

Esther Hall
PathFinders International
60 B W. Praise God for a great time in Bali. I am leaving for the airport in one hour. The four days of the Summit was well received by all. Leaders from around the world join together to talk about mobilizing the church for mission.

There was an excitement in the air as we came together on Monday. For several of these leaders it was the first time they have been involved with a meeting of this kind. We prayed for the world and we had devotions about generosity, compassion, and unity.

We met in discussion and planning groups based on the roles we have in mobilizing the church and in regional meetings based on where we serve. I lead the African region. It was two great sessions on appreciating the value and contributions of the African church, addressing her challenges, and planning for mobilizing the African church. I know it was only a few of us, but we are believing God to do great things.

Thank you so much for your prayers and generous giving to help nine of these leaders from Africa join in on this Summit. Their reaction and gratitude was quite rewarding. Keep them in your prayer for this coming year of working out the plans.

I know I am not giving good details but I will ask the delegates to share a few words in the future. I just wanted to make sure I said THANK YOU !!!!! Blessings and grace.

PS I went White water rafting and SURVIVED!!!! It was a lot of fun.

Thanks for your Covering

Praise God the African team has arrived minus one. Yetemgeta missed the plane, but hewill arrive today. Thank you so very much for praying for us. We will start the summit tonight. There are 100 leaders, women and men, from 15 different countries here to connect for God's kingdom. I am very excited. I will be leading two sessions. Not so much teaching but leading the group through discussions and next step ideas for the African region. Please continue to pray for us and God's agenda. We are all so excited you can feel it in the air. I will include pictures later. It is great seeing many of the leaders that we have worked with for several years. This time is filled with NEW BEGINNINGS and God's fresh ANOINTING. Thanks for standing with me. Blessings.

Calling Prayer Team

Hello Everyone, I would really appreciate your prayers for the next few weeks. I am here in Kenya packing my bags for another five weeks of travel. This trip will bring me to the states for a few days on my way to South East Asia.
For the next ten days I will be preparing for our Global Summit that will bring together over a hundred leaders from around the world for a global mission summit. I am very excited that over 20 leaders will be coming from Africa. For several of these leader it will be their first experience with so many international leaders. IN PHOTOS 4 of the 10 leaders that will be attending the Global Summit, Peter, Geofrrey, Evanson, and Reginah. (Also attending Yetem, Ahmed, Demissie, Alemayehu, Peter, and Wachira) Please keep us in prayer.

PLEASE keep this time in prayer August 28th to Sept 6TH. We are praying for divine connections, smooth traveling and flight connections, physical strength for these leaders dealing with jetlag, and the Holy Spirit's leading in each session. Also pray for language skills and understanding. We will all "speak" in English with accents from around the world, pray that we understand each other.

Praise God we have 9 of the needed 11 visas, please pray for the last two that should be finished this week.

Thanks for covering me in ministry with your prayers and support. I will be near home and thinking after Sept 17th. I pray to see most of you then.

God bless and lots of love,

Esther

May-July

Hello Wonderful people,

I know it has been too long since hearing from me. I can only repent.
Between traveling, internet service or lack of, and visiting people I have
not updated many on what is going on.

Malawi:
It was great meeting up with the Willow Creek team and World Relief. We
visited ministry sites and passed out Bible.

South Africa:
Jo'burg was great and visiting with David and Cherie was quite a blessing.
Meeting pastors, visiting an afterschool program and hanging out with teens.
Our visit to St Frances AIDS Hospice home was a highlight. We took pictures
and bless the residents with greetings cards.

Capetown is a beautiful place. God put the finishing touches on the world
down there. Working with Jodi and Straatwerks we visited families, prayed
with sex workers, and conducted a Valuable to Jesus session at a local
school. It was great.

Somerset West Kevin and Erica were great host as we toured around townships, visited ministry projects, sat in on an outreach to gang members and I
learned more about the CHE program.

Back in Kenya:
I came back to finish plans for the Sept trip. Many problems came up
stressing me out, but God answered prayers. Now the big rush to finish the
needed paperwork for the visas. PLEASE PRAY!!!

Regina Naya and I conducted a 2 day Women's session for PACE ministries. I
will return this weekend for a staff training and Sunday service.

Weekend retreat with ITeams Refugee group. Teaching two sessions to the adults and fellowshipping with the ladies.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and financial support for this
ministry. Please continue to stand with me as we bless the globe for
Christ. I am planning to return to the states for ten days before going out
again. I would appreciate your prayers for rest and restoration. You will not see me until mid Sept.

Global Summit:
The final plans are starting to settle for the conference. I have turned in the entry visas applications. PLEASE pray for a quick processing time and approval. Pray for the leaders who will gather for this event in Sept.

Esther

Live from Malawi

WOW!!!! I can not believe a month has gone by and I have not updated you. SORRY.

I am in Lilongwa, Malawi in Southern Africa. I have been blessed to visit with Stella who is the African staff person for Willow Creek. I arrived on the 4th and drove with the World Relief staff to the city of Chatipa in Northern Malawi. Praise God I joined the Willow Creek team and spent four days hanging out with folks from home. We visited several of the WR projects that Willow has supported, spoke with women leaders and youth. We were blessed by some great drama and music from the youth about their life and involvement with WR programs. It was great to visit and be a part of what Willow's support has done. We visited water wells, passed out Bible to church leaders and students in the local language, visited AIDS patients and school kids.

On the PF side, I was able to continue to talk with a key leader about coming to the Global Summit in Sept. Their ministry experience and networking passion will bring needed insight to the meeting. I am very excited about the leaders who have agreed to join the Global Summit in Sept. Please keep praying for this meeting and all the details and funds that are needed. It will cost at least $1660 for each leader to join us. Please pray for us and join with us in supporting them.

APRIL 2008
Well, let me back track a minute and fill you in. During April I continued preparing leaders from Nyauhururu, Kenya for the Sept. meeting and worked on plans for a Northern Kenya mission trip and women's conference this coming July.

After returning to Nairobi there were a few more days of unrest, but so far everything has seem to calm down and return to "normal." I had an opportunity to travel to Uganda and visit Agape Global Mission. Tabitha and I spent a week speaking at a home for teen moms, at churches and schools.

One of my goals during these eight months is to invited the African delegation to the Global Summit in Sept. During my time in Uganda I have invited Dr. Lyn. She is on the MANI committee to mobilize African churches to missions. I am very excited that she is considering joining us. Please pray that God will open the doors for her to attend. She has a very busy schedule for this fall, but desires to join us.

On my way back to Kenya I stopped by Nyanza, Kenya. This area is the worst hit with the HIV/AIDS crisis. We were able to visit with 40 orphans and conduct a 2 day retreat for them. I performed physicals exams, Tabitha taught an HIV/AIDS awareness session and we toured a sugar factory. It doesn't start out so sweet. We left promising to cut out sugar from our diets. This is also the area that Senator Obama's father is from. We visited a school named after him.

I want to say again thank you so very much for your support and prayers. I am connecting in ways that could not been done before. God is working great land.

Please pray for the church leadership in Africa. Just like anywhere they have a great potential to do good for the Kingdom of God or harm against the people. We can uphold them and their families.

Please pray for the leaders that will be attending the Global Summit in Sept. They need funds, time to prepare for these intense four days and all the travel details.

Please continue to pray for me. My health is doing great and sleep is still a joke. The continued support that is needed ahead. I will not be returning home in August, but early Oct.

Please pray for the open opportunity to go to Tanzania and Ghana this July or August. There is a network of leaders that are open to mobilizing their churches for missions and I have been invited to speak with them. We are working out the details now.

THANK YOU!!!! for standing with me in ministry.

Esther

Kenya and Beyond....

Hello Everyone,

I KNOW I KNOW it has been forever since hearing from me.

I am doing well. and still in Kenya for the next two weeks. Here is a quick recap of the latest events.

The Egypt trip:
Joel, Aaron, Nathan and myself joined together to speak with over 50 leaders about Church Centered mission in the Arab states. It was a blessed time of training, connecting and hearing the hearts of the pastors in this region. Praise God we have an invitation to teach in Israel. Many of these pastors and leaders are evangelist with a great heart to reach Muslims. Please pray for those who God has given this region of the world to live and serve. Pray for Christian radio and television that are reaching those who would NEVER enter a church, or openly talk to Christians about Christ. This gathering of like minded servants was uplifting and challenging. Many of these leaders have to serve under laws that are against their faith. Keep them in your prayers.

Northern Kenya:
Moyale and Marsabit was also uplifting and full of activity. Pastor Regina and I hit the ground running. Right from the airport we met with 100 praying women, had lunch and met with 60 youth. It was great to speak into their lives about God's call to mission for the church. During our time we spoke to pastors on leadership development and church centered mission. Pray for these churches that serve in Muslim areas in difficult situations. Right now they are running out of water in the river beds.

Mombosa:
Missionary Janice, from Florida, works with a program that digs water wells for communities that have to walk over 5 miles to dirty rivers or have very limited water resources. I was the video person. I am always amazed at the effort many people here have to go through to get things we receive without effort. I have never walked a mile for my daily water. Here you see women and children walk several miles carrying large buckets of water several times a day. These churches are helping to bring clean water closer to the communities. We also were able to enjoy the coast and have a rest. I swam in the Indian Ocean and I experienced my first sunburn.

Nyauhururu, Kenya
I have been here for one week reconnecting with PACE ministries. It has been a blessing to speak to pastors and churches about their call to mission. Several leaders here have a heart for the 22 unreached areas of Kenya. God has given me several opportunities to speak into their lives about God's call for their church to go to the world. The African church is a powerhouse for the Kingdom of God. Many lack resources but not vision for what God can and is doing among them. Thank you for helping me to serve and encourage them towards glocal (global and local) mission. I will be here for another two weeks. I will focused on training four pastors that will pioneer church centered mission in this area.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your prayers and support. Right now Kenya is quiet and returning to "normal life" for most Kenyans. Continue to pray for healing and recovery. There are a thousand families grieving the loss of a loved one and still 100,000 families without a home living in tents in the rain. Kids are not in school and food is running low.

Thank you for standing with me. Because of your giving we will pay the rent for 8 families for six months. These families have relocated and will not be returning to their homeland. PACE ministries have given them land to plant food and is trying to cover their rent for one year. This is a big expenses for an already over taxed ministry. There are 32 families that they are serving with homes, food and resources.

For so many years mission has been one direction. But God has a dream for his church. The face of mission is changing, our mission force is multi ethnic and getting stronger as we empower our brothers and sisters around the world. During my time outside of the states, part of my assignment is to encourage and equip the Church for mission. The call of mission is not based on where we are from,. how much money we have or the color of our skin. It is the call of the church to do God mission on earth. Just when things seems to calm another city is under attack. There are so many sides to this political and ethnic battle. We are praying that people who have not been heard and unjustly treated will be recognized and will back off of the killing and destruction that has ended and crippled life in Kenya.

The things you are seeing on the news are very true and at the same time life is trying to go on. There are parts of the city that seems far removed from the fighting. Everyone is on edge.

Highlights of the week:
Teaching at two Bible studies for Somalian refugee women, and attending two weeks of Refugee fellowship services. It has been great working with Dotun and Ami. Bless them for their fellowship this week. LOVED IT!

I have been listening to Pastor Oscar at Nairobi Chapel for the last two weeks about the ethnic, political, spiritual and moral monsters that are trying to destroy Kenya. It has been excellent. He is speaking God's truth to all sides during this time. It is calling Christians to think above tribal and racial lines and walk as followers of Christ. I will figure out how to get some CD's back home for some of you to hear.

Turning the corner.
I am leaving for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 7am Monday 1/28. I will be there for one week with Yetem, Mark and Maggie teaching at a Pastor's and Businessmen ministry conference. I will teach a session on Church Centered Mission. Start praying for our group and the leaders that will be attending a week long gathering.

Sorry these updates is so picture-less. I will try to take pictures in Ethiopia. The refugee women are still in threatening situation with their families and communities about becoming Christians, so I can not take and post photos of them.

Back in the States:
Thank you so very much for your continued gifts and prayers. God knows the outcome of all that is happening. So what is happening back in the states? Drop me a line about life on your side of the pond.

Next Steps:
If the Lord will allow, I am planning a ministry trip with Pastor Regina to Northern Kenya for a pastor's training and women's conference. If things are calm, Feb 15th to 22nd we will travel to Marsabit and Moyale Kenya.

Feb 25th to March 1st Cairo, Egypt. Details to follow.

Thank you for being a blessing to the world. Please join us in this ministry year with your prayers and financial support.

PathFinders International
60-B Terra Cotta Dr #205
Crystal Lake, IL 60014
memo: Hall-Africa

Thanking God for the Rain

Today it is storming!!! A summer rain storm. We are praying that will keep many people in from protesting, but we will see. Sorry I am low on pictures. I do not think you want pics of four walls. Here is my last general email.

Hello Everyone, Thanks be to God!!!!

Well things here in Kenya are still very unstable and scary. We are past the second day of planned rallies. The first day it rained in the morning and in Nairobi most people tried to go to work. In Kibera (Nairobi slum) there were people killed and groups were shot at by police. All around Kenya there were different clashes. There are times the police used teargas and shoot bullets (in the air or at them) against people gathering and holding signs. But at the same time were other places the groups were throwing stones at police.

There are so many people here who are discouraged, poor, under represented, oppressed and have nothing to lose. Kenya has experience growth in many areas but still 60-70% of Kenyans are poor. Their government officials (Parliament members) have a salary of $100,000 a month while most Kenyans make $50-200 a month. The election results have brought to the surface all the problems from the last hundred years.

Keep praying for the leaders of Kenya. Their families live in Europe or America so they are far removed from this crisis. The demonstrations are shutting down travel throughout the country in several spots. Prices are going up since most shops close early and supplies can not reach some remote areas. The day before the planned rallies people flocked to the stores to stock up on supplies not sure how long we would be indoors.

Praise God there is movement in the city. Those areas on the outskirts of the city seem normal. This is affecting Uganda and other landlocked countries that used Kenyan roads for their supplies. To say the least the tension is high and tribal fighting is displacing thousands of people. Single mothers and families are living in tents around police stations for protection. It is really bad for many of the poor of this country.

I am doing fine. I am living with missionaries friends Dotun and Ami. We are about 20 miles outside of the city. Yesterday we stayed in and today we went to their Nairobi office. We are watching the news (CNN & BBC) to see what is happening in the city. The President did shut down live media for quite a while. Now we get spotted live news from Kenyan news reporters.

Many have asked how I do feel, mostly shocked and sad. There is so much happening to these wonderful people. At the same time you can smell victory for the kingdom of God. If the church will raise up over tribal issues and stand firm for Christ there will be an amazing turn around. Pray for the church leaders to stop taking sides and stand for Christ. Pray that the church leaders will speak of unity and love in every church. Some are still looking to tribal tradition. Kenya is a strong place for Christianity. If it crumbles other spiritual leaders will take advantage of it. KENYA FOR CHRIST THEY CAN LEAD AFRICA TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

When God calls us to a place of service it may not be a bed of roses, but His presence, power, provision and peace are there. I am trusting God and His leading. The plans for the first few weeks have been cancelled, but God is opening up the opportunities that are needed. Right now the trip to Ethiopia is going as planned. I will be leaving on the 28th and returning to Nairobi, Lord's will. Okay this is getting long. Please keep praying for us in Kenya. I am glad to be here. Thanks for you support and prayers.

Your missionary to Kenya & Africa,
Esther Hall
PathFinders Intl
60-B Terra Cotta Dr #205
Crystal Lake, IL 60014

P. The opposition has called for three days of protesting in 20 locations around Kenya. This next week will lock down this country for several days. Wed, Thur, and Fri are the scheduled days of protesting. Praise God Joy will leave on Monday night and on Tuesday I will stay with Dotun and Ami for the next week. They are with Int'l Teams and I know them from the Chicago area. I am glad that I will not be alone. Please keep praying for Kenya. Please pray also for the American Ambassdor that he does not say anything that will cause anti-US feelings. We are planning to stay indoors for the next week and ride out the storm. This situation is VERY VERY serious. Many people have loss their life, home and businesses since the election and now it will start again for three days. Pray for Kenya. Both leaaders are behind the problems. I will stay as connected as possible.

side note

Esther Hall's personality type:
Serious and quiet, interested in security and peaceful living. We left the USA on the 1st with great excitement and caution. We arrived in Nairobi at 10pm. Because of the political unrest in Nairobi, Joy and I were prepared to stay overnight at the airport. Praise God our taxi driver was there and we arrived at our guesthouse without any delay or problem. The streets were empty and quiet.

Thursday was a different story. The riots have targeted certain tribal owners so almost all of the shops were closed. There was a huge protest about two blocks from of guesthouse. We could hear all the shouting and see the smoke from burning buildings. It lasted a few hours, then things were quiet. We step out to buy some food and water. Watching the news showed that many homes were burned, a church and restaurant within a few blocks of us.

This is a beautiful country and this unrest is crushing some many poor people. The areas that are getting hit the worst have displaced hundreds of thousand of people, fuel and food is running out and hundreds of people have been killed.

Praise God the church is speaking up and Bishop Tutu is here to talk with both sides. We are praying against pride and power hungry leaders. The city has shut down many of the roads to the downtown area. Many people have not returned to work since Christmas. There is another protest planned for Tuesday. The frustration of being blocked increases the fighting and burning. The police are out in double force.

We are the on site prayer team. I know the world is praying for God's help in Kenya. This is a country that acknowledges God. We are praying daily about all of the issues that are presented on the news and what we hear from others. Please keep Kenya and East Africa in your prayers. Kenya is the gateway for other countries to get their food, fuel and supplies. So this unrest is affecting the entire region. This is a very serious event that will have ripple effects for a long time.

Our plans have been cancelled because traveling around is NOT GOOD. So we are getting to know our guesthouse friends. We have joined together shared food, information and community. We are praying for our family and friends back home also. We are planning to go to church on Sunday. Ps Regina has come to meet us and it was a blessings to share time with her. SHe as a great passion for Kenya.

We asked God for adventure and THIS WOULD BE IT!!!! :) Keep praying for Kenya, she is God's mighty army in the world. satan would love to crush her as God is about to advance His kingdom towards greater impact.

Joining together to Serve HIM,
Esther and Joy

A Few Weeks to Go

Blessings to you all. I pray that you are well. Things are coming along and time is speeding by. I have gotten my stuff down to four bags, I need to reduce it to three, almost there. Also I am praying to sell my car before I leave if God opens that door. $10K for a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe v6.

The process of saying good-bye to life in the USA is in full swing. My Bible study group surrounded me in prayer for my trip last Tuesday. Thank you so much it was a tremendous blessings.

This week and beyond:

Wednesday 11/28 5:30pm at Willow Creek I will be leading the Prayer Life class.

Sunday 12/2 at 12:30 room 206 will be the time that Willow's Global Connections ministry will have a commissioning prayer for me. Light refreshments will be served and I will talk about PathFinders and what I will be doing in Africa. Please Join us.

Monday 12/3-6 I will leave for Seattle, WA. PathFinders is conducting a Church Centered Mission Forum and I will be leading two of the workshops.

Wednesday 12/12 I will be speaking at Cedar Spring Women's Christmas Dinner. This is a great group of ladies who will use this event to support Straatwerk, an outreach to prostitutes and their children in South Africa.

Well, as you see I will be a little tied up for awhile. I would appreciate your prayers.
I pray that you have a blessed Christmas. As the year unfolds, I am praying that God will reveal more of His plans. I do have the first twelve months of general information. PFI is planning a global mission forum in Sept. 2008. I am looking to invite a few of these leaders to Southeast Asia for this round table event. Second, I will be involved with leadership training in East Africa, including Uganda, Kenya
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 11pt; TEXT-ALIGN: center; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; He has spoken to my heart to be flexible for the next two years. Like others in the Bible, God gives us what we need to step out in faith and not a whole lot more. The words to a song my grandmother loved states, “If Jesus goes with me I’ll go, anywhere…” I pray that my life lives out the words of this song. Keep praying this trip will require a lot of discernment and wisdom. I am thanking God that He has given me an Aaron for the first part of the trip. Joy, a friend from my church will come with me the first two weeks.

For 3 months, Oct. to Dec. 2007, I am learning to live out of a suitcase. I have already moved from my apartment and have given away most of my things. It is a spiritual and physical challenge to condense your stuff down to three suitcases or less. Thanks to my family and friends for letting me practice “portable living” stateside. This is a gracious way to learn to die to self.
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; One of those items is to get this letter out, letting you know about this step in ministry. Another is finding a garage space in the Palatine area where I can keep my car for ten months. Over the next several weeks I will be doing a lot to prepare my heart, mind, body and spirit for what lies ahead. I am excited, overwhelmed and nervous all at the same time. This is a deeper level of learning to trust God’s leading and direction.
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; I am praying that many of you will continue to stand with me in this next season of ministry. I am very grateful for the life giving support and encouragement that I have received. I will need others to take a step of faith and partner with me. I have an immediate need to cover airfare and insurance expenses. Please place my name in your 2008 calendar several times as a reminder to pray for me. If God impresses you to give financially, I would be very appreciative.

<span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; I was on the ASK GOD show with TLN. This is a cable network. I do not know when the show will air. I will get a copy of the DVD. It was very exciting and nerve recking at the same time. What an experience. I sat with Tamara, Jahn, and Judson to answer questions about "Why is there pain and suffering in the world?" It was a good conversation and of course we only scratched the surface. I do not think I said something totally dumb. I may have said one or two good things. It will be interesting to see the final production. Thanks for your prayers. This coming August 30th and Sept 20th I will participate in a television program called "Ask God." This is a program that has a man on the street format. People ask questions that they would ask God. There are several panels of everyday and professional Christians that will give their best shot at an answer. I have done one taping and really enjoyed the experience. Well they have asked for me to join in on another taping. How exciting is that. So pray for me and the group.

Now here is what I am asking God....
After this past trip to Kenya, it has been heavy on my heart to make a move. YES, A MAJOR MOVE TO KENYA!!!! I am not sure who reads this, but you will be one of the first to know. Over the next several weeks I am packing up and moving out. I am praying to unpack in Nairobi, but travel to South, West and East Africa for at least 6-8 months. Lord's will, I will leave this Jan and stay until the summer of 08'. This will take a lot of planning and prayer. If anyone needs bookshelves, books and kitchen ware let me know.

Please pray for:
Direction, wisdom, courage and God's timing.
Place to stay in Nairobi.
Ministry connections in West and South Africa.
Health care issues for me in Nairobi.
Funds to relocate and for ministry and living expenses.
Process of releasing and saying goodbye for now.
A listening ear for what God is doing next.

Well, that is a lot for now. Blessings and grace to you all. Sorry for the extreme delay in updating the final part of the trip. Adjusting to home included a week of training and preparing for the upcoming Leadership Summit at my church. It was a great way to get back into things at home. Thanks for your patience.

July 1-6th

Praise God, I spent the week with PACE ministries in Nyahururu, Kenya. I had an opportunity to meet a team from Philly. We conducted chapel for several groups throughout the week. I had a chance to interact with the Bible students and pastors that I had taught before. It was a blessing to hear that they had started to discover the DNA of their church. They were asking their members what is God doing in their church that He wanted them to share with the world. This was from the Church Centered Mission teaching in Jan. Thank so much for sending me out to build into the Church.

Our 4th of July celebration. We had a party, 9 Americans, fireworks, bar-b-que and we sang our national anthem. One thing we forgot, to tell the police about the fireworks. Our house was in between two city officials. So fireworks sounds like gun fire and it brought out the cops in full force. After hearing that we were celebrating our nation's birthday we were forgiven, but AK-47 are scary. Everyone doesn't celebrate the 4th. :).

July 6th to 13th

Green Bay team: This was a fast week of ministry and very full. We started out with International Teams and refugee children. It was great fun when our team had to learn the memory verse in Kswahili. These kids have lived their whole life in refugee camps and in limbo.

We spent most of our week working with Pastor Reginah and her high school kids (pic above). After a great time of fellowship and games, the kids hit the streets. This was a new experience for the USA team. As they walked in the neighborhood, they prayed with people for healing, salvation and understanding about Christ. Our last day with them we went to a slum area and held an open air service. The kids gave their testimonies, sang songs, danced and shared the Word. It was a great experience. During this time I was very aware of how much we need your prayers.

We went to Gilgil and Narok to visit a Maasai church and school. The kids were very excited about our visit and entertained us with singing and dancing. I will look forward to returning soon. The team finished with a great dinner with Missionary Janice. She opened her home and fed us well. Then off to the airport for their return trip home.

July 13th to 16th

I finished my trip staying with Missionary Janice and seeing her Maasai water projects. Many of these women have to walk 2-5 miles several times a day for water.

We visited a school with over 200 kids. The 4-5 year old class has 92 students and 1 teacher. I saw the faces of 10 year old girls, who would have been married off if they were not in school. For less than $10 a month they can have an education. When their family can not afford the school fees they are given in marriage. I met one girl whose name is just like mine Esther Wanjiku (my Kenyan name). This really opened my heart more to the situations that young girls and women are in around the world. We can do something about this.

The other exciting event. Willow Creek is hosting a Leadership Summit in Nairobi Oct 26th and 27th. This is my favorite conference and I am so excited that it will be offered in Kenya. I am praying that I can bless several needy pastors and leaders with the opportunity to attend. The cost is less than $20USD a person, but this is a huge amount for many. If you would like to join me in sponsoring a pastor or two, please let me know. ehjoy@hotmail.com

I am looking forward to returning soon. To continue to invest in the Church. Helping others to see how God will give their church away to the world. Thank you so very much for your prayers and support in sending me as your missionary to Africa. I know that God will expand the work of His kingdom.

Month of August I would appreciate your prayers for God's direction in my ministry and the work in Africa (all 54 countries). Let me know if this was a good way to stay in touch.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Esther

She is not ungodly, just an American.....

Blessings to you all. Well, sorry it took me so long to write. Here is an update of my trip so far. After the first three days in Nairobi with Joel and David, Tabitha and I went off to Moyale, North Kenya. This area is 99% Muslim. Ps Ahmed has a church of 700 people including over 350 kids.
On our arrival we walked two miles to the church, two loonngg dusty miles for this car driving American. We taught 35 Bible school students on church centered mission. Saturday; we took a motorcycle ride into Moiale, Ethiopia just for a visit to some of the church memebers of the Ethiopian churches there. Sunday; I spoke at the church service and Taby sang. We make a pretty good team. The Pastor introduced me with the statement, "She isn't ungodly just an American, they do things differently." It was in reference to my uncovered hair. With 98% former muslim congregation, they still wear hair coverings. I had asked the pastor if he wanted me to wear a head coverng and he said no. He would explain it. In the afternoon we went back to Ethiopia and taught Church centered mission to over 100 leaders and church members. In my excitement I taught until 5:55pm. The border back into Kenya closed at 6pm. We zoomed through the streets and praise God the border did not close on time. Monday; Tabitha and I taught the Bible students again and finish our day with 15 local pastors in a Church centered mission session. Praise God the information was well received and encouraging to the leaders. They want us back for more teaching.
Well, on the last night in Moyale, I became very ill. It was scary being in such an isolated area and sick. Tuesday, I was to fly to Malsabit for another three to five days of teaching. The MAF flights only happens twice a week (Tues. and Fri.). The Friday flight was booked so we were told we had to stay another three days. After I became sick I was too afraid to be out there without a plane ride. SO when the flight came I changed my plans and returned to Nairobi. I took the next day to rest. I am feeling much better, but I am still battling something like the stomach flu. Keep praying please.
I am now in Nyahururu, Kenya with PACE mins. The next few days will include Sunday sermons, family fellowship and staff development teaching. If the electricity holds out I will write again soon. I will return to Nairobi on Friday to welcome the Green Bay team for my final week.

I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who have supported this trip with funds and prayers. THANKS THANKS THANKS.

First meeting completed

Hello Everyone,
Praise God the first mission meeting is complete. We had 35 leaders from several different churches participate in the Church Centered mission seminars. It was well received and the feedback was very encouraging. Many of the leaders express how this will change how they think of mission, the people they influence and the ministry that they are doing.

Tomorrow I am off to Northern Kenya. I will conduct a mini version of the conference everyday for the next six days. I will travel to Moyale and Ethiopia until Tuesday then off Masabit until next Friday. This area is very different then Nairobi in many ways. I am glad that I will not be going alone. Tabitha will travel with me. This will be a very small MAF plane.

Thanks for your prayers. I am preparing to head out again for Kenya. June 16th to July 17th. I will be traveling to Nairobi and Nyahururu, Kenya. I will be working with the PathFinders team to conduct an Kenyan Ministry Summit June 18-20th. Joel, Mark, and David will continue on to Ethiopia for other sessions.

God has blessed us to conduct four Ministry Summits this past year. We conduct these summits to inspire and encourage ministry leaders to mobilize their churches towards global mission. Many people only see the western Christians as going to serve others. HOW WRONG we are. 70% of the world Christians are non western and many of them are on the move for God.

I will be traveling to Northern Kenya, for the first time, to talk with church leaders about global mission. I will return to Nyahururu June 27 to July 6th to teach an AIDS/HIV session and talk with pastors about missions. I am looking forward to this adventure. Thank you for your prayers and support. July 6th-13th I will meet with a team from Green Bay, WI and finish my final days working with Pastor Reginah.
